Massive Attack, the trip hop group out of Bristol, returned to the spotlight a couple of weeks ago with the announcement of the reissue of their instant classic, Mezzanine. Not a normal reissue by any means… they decided to continue their tradition of pushing the envelope by encoding millions of copies of the album into DNA. If that wasn’t crazy already, they then filled spray paint cans with it. This doesn’t help the conspiracy theory that one of the members could possible be the unknown street artists Banksy. Now, the group has announced a 20th anniversary tour of Mezzanine hitting North America next year, with very special guest, the angelic voice of the Cocteau Twins, Liz Fraser. You cannot miss this concert. If by any chance you haven’t heard of this group, start with Teardrop or Black Milk, my personal favorites
Deerhunter are back with a brand new album “Why Hasn’t Everything Already Disappeared?” and they’ve released a video for their first single “Death In Midsummer” to start the hype before they embark on tour to support the record, starting January 17, 2019 in Los Angeles. We last heard from them with “Fading Frontier” which housed the incredible tunes Snakeskin and Breaker
King Krule is fresh off of his world tour in support of last years The Ooz (my favorite record of 2017) and he’s been dishing out some pretty great music videos, his latest visual is for the somber “Cadet Limbo” and if you missed the video for the opening track “Biscuit Town” check that out
P.S. while on the topic of music videos I only saw this one for LCD SOundsystem’s Oh Baby (off of last years American Dream) the other day and I think it’s one of the best videos ever. If you missed it over the summer watch it right now!!
