“It’s so easy going’ down” is the lyric that leads us into Grapetooth’s third single this summer “Red Wine” . Following the disco bounce of “Trouble” released back in May, Red Wine follows the announcement of the Chicago duo’s debut self-titled LP out on Polyvinyl Records November 9th. You can head over there now to grab an early bird limited edition yellow vinyl version, only 700 available! Paste magazine says “If your music taste never left the ‘70s and ‘80s, or was transported back to those years, the sound Grapetooth have been channeling will be a welcome guiding pull into the present. Somewhere in the realm of The Cure, Psychedelic Furs and The Clash, Grapetooth stomp in.”
Disclosure returned to the scene last month with a 1-2-3 punch of sample lead disco tracks Love Can Be So Hard, Where Angels Fear to Tread, and Moonlight, the latter shining the brightest out of the three, and possibly giving us the most authentic glimpse of the direction the London brothers are headed for with their next LP, the announcement of which seems imminent after the grand unveiling of these three songs and the acclaim of which they have received by fans and critics alike. Definitely one of the albums I’m looking forward to the most this year, should it drop before the end.
Goth Babe has been making a steady rise in his DIY career with recent placements on popular Spotify playlists such as Bedroom Pop and POLLEN. He follows up his previous summer jam “Sometimes” with a new pair of singles titled Pacific II, which would have been a perfect home for the formerly mentioned track. Not much has evolved in his sound in between releases, but it’s a pleasing concoction nonetheless.
