Last year I switched from Apple Music to Spotify and I do not regret it one bit. I wanted to start sharing playlists with my friends, but I found that Spotify’s curated playlists (to certain moods and to myself) were so much better, and far more in tune with the sounds I enjoy. I made a conscious effort last year to break away from the 5 bands I tend to have on repeat and find a lot of new, current music. I went to many concerts last year as well, Washed Out at the Norva on June 9th being one of my favorites. I’d take trips up to Baltimore and DC and find great new tunes on the trek there such as Nick Hakim’s Green Twins. I started following music bloggers and came across live instagram videos of NE-HI, who put out my favorite indie rock record of last year, “Offers”. A couple of these groups are some of my friends too that I enjoy showing support for, like Sam of Julia Brown and Ethan of Little Lungs. I hope you enjoy these songs as much as I do, and come back next week for more great tracks!
