Thrice has been making music since 1998, which means the band turns 20 this year. Over that period of time – including a hiatus from 2011 to 2015 – Thrice’s style has evolved from fast, heavy, and hardcore sound to something much more melodic and experimental. With each of their 9 albums, Thrice has chosen a new cause to donate a portion of the profits to.
Welcome to Rockville featured Thrice on April 29, 2018, where they played an 8-song set featuring tracks from The Artist in the Ambulance (2003), Vheissu (2005), and their most recent album, To Be Everywhere Is to Be Nowhere (2016). I was able to interview Dustin (lead vocals/rhythm guitar) and Teppei (lead guitar/backing vocals), the founding members of the group, right before they took the stage.
Amongst a flurry of interviews from radio stations and publications from all over the nation, we we had a bit of time to touch on several topics. You’ll hear about some inside jokes, the beginnings of the band, and what’s on the road ahead – with a little bit of fun sprinkled in at the end of the talk.
