What is Girls on the Run Hampton Roads?
A non profit organization that inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. This after-school program helps girls in the 3rd – 8th grade learn healthy habits with nutrition, exercise, emotions, and community service. Volunteer coaches get certified to coach girls for a 12 week period. During that time, they develop the stamina to run in a celebration 5k with their team mates and an adult running buddy. It’s not about how fast your pace, it’s about crossing the finish line and achieving your goal.
