Judah & the Lion are coming to Atlantic Union Bank Pavilion on Saturday, Sept. 7 as part of the band’s biggest headlining tour yet and in support of their new album “Pep Talks,” due out May 3.
Judah (guitar), Brian MacDonald (mandolin), and Nate Zuercher (banjo) craft songs unique in their one-of-a kind sound — a heart-pounding whirl blending folk, bluegrass, rock, hip-hop and electronic production.
Judah & the Lion formed at Nashville’s Belmont University in 2011. Judah was from nearby Cookeville with a love for folk guitar. Brian, from Chicago, was obsessed with piano. Coloradan Nate was a son of symphony players but preferred metal.
Their differences were their strength as they crafted their sound over a bluegrass-heavy debut, “Kids These Days” and a mold-breaking follow-up, “Folk Hop n’ Roll” recorded in two just weeks.
In 2017, their triumphant “Take It All Back” topped the alternative songs chart for three consecutive weeks, paving the way for a Best New Rock/Alternative Artist win at the 2018 iHeartRadio Awards.
The band performs its Top 10 single “Over My Head” on Jimmy Kimmel Live!’s Outdoor Stage on Tuesday, March 19.
Judah & the Lion released a new track “Why Did You Run” from the forthcoming album that includes the previously released singles “Over My Head,” “Quarter-Life Crisis,” “Pep Talks,” and “Pictures” (featuring Kacey Musgraves).
A support opening band will be announced soon.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m., Friday, March 8 at the Atlantic Union Bank Pavilion Box Office and all Ticketmaster locations, charge by phone at 800.745.3000 or purchase online at www.ticketmaster.com.
